Cheetahs and Boks rugby player Raymond Rhule spent the past weekend in Lagos with iTry.
Raymond's action packed visit coincided with the press launch of the N20 million Cowbell iTry schools rugby programme 2014, a fundraising dinner held at the WheatBaker Hotel and a schools rugby tournament.
At the press launch Raymond explained how he came by his love for the game of rugby, how much the game has given him, and his belief in the capacity of Nigerian youth. He further commended Cowbell for their visionary leadership in the iTry project.
The fundraising dinner, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the attendees, raised a fantastic N4 million for iTry. Our thanks to all those who contributed, to Olisa, the amazing MC, and to Raymond for his support.
The schools tournament featured six iTry schools including Barewa, all the way from Kano. Despite their long journey Barewa emerged winners, undefeated, in an exciting tournament. Raymond chose the player of the tournament, Michael from Barewa, and was on hand to present him a prize pair of Adidas rugby boots.
